Identity Construction

The District of Columbia Football Club logo consists of 3 major elements: The name, the flag, and the crest. The name, DCFC, consolidates the full name and the city and team into an easy to remember and iconic call of the fans. The strong, sharp structure to each letter gives the city a sense of defense and honors the historical structures that dominate the area. The flag represents the nation’s symbol with imagery and dynamic movement. The flag also fits in with the other professional sports of D.C. that use stars, monuments, and eagles as imagery. Lastly, the crest shape reinforces the concept of defense and safety while also bringing in traditional forms of European football crests.
